The Senior Hardware Technician will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of hardware systems, including but not limited to computers, servers, networking devices, and peripherals.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level maintenance and support for all hardware components within the organization, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, servers, conferencing and networking equipment
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions to business operations
- Lead the installation, setup, and configuration of new hardware systems and peripherals. Ensure compatibility, functionality, and optimal performance according to organizational standards and requirements
- Plan and execute hardware upgrades, replacements, and optimizations to enhance performance, reliability, and security
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, including serial numbers, configurations, and warranty information
- Develop and implement asset management processes to track hardware lifecycle, usage, and depreciation
- Utilize and manage ITSM solutions to push updates and new installations to end points
- Ensure hardware systems comply with security policies, regulations, and industry standards
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT colleagues, software developers, and end-users, to address hardware-related requirements and challenges
- Stay informed about the latest hardware technologies and best practices to continually improve infrastructure efficiency
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficiency in hardware installation, configuration, and optimization, including familiarity with hardware standards and protocols
- Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical language
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent job experience
- 5+ years of experience in IT support, with a focus on hardware management and troubleshooting
- Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving hardware issues across a variety of devices and platforms
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are a plus
