Job description

Berkeley Lab's Laser Technologies Group has an opening for a Career Research Scientist position. In this position you will be expected to manage and lead the development of advanced laser plasma tools for elemental and isotopic analysis. The position requires novel, innovative, and detailed experimental research in diverse technologies including Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Optical Emission Spectroscopy (LA-ICP-OES), Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), and Laser Ablation Molecular Isotopic Spectrometry (LAMIS). The Research Scientist is expected to apply cutting-edge analytical chemistry concepts in the development of ultrasensitive chemical analysis techniques. The successful candidate is also expected to develop new expertise and obtain recognition within the laser plasma spectroscopy research community. The position is for a key hands-on researcher and critical to maintaining LBNL's ability to execute innovative research in these fields and in program direction.
