Job description

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of DBA working experience with PostgreSQL 9.6+ version, coupled with a solid understanding of Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operating System Management: Proficient in managing PostgreSQL on various operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Linux (RHEL), and Kubernetes in the OpenShift platform.

  2. Cluster Management: Experienced in setting up PostgreSQL clusters and supporting databases in on-prem and hybrid cloud environments, particularly with AWS RDS instances.

  3. Scripting Skills: Strong proficiency in UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting for automation and task optimization.

  4. Security Implementation: Experience in implementing Postgres STIG, conducting testing, and addressing vulnerability remediation.

  5. Connection Pooling: Working knowledge of connection poolers such as pgPool and pgBouncer.

  6. Installation and Monitoring: Install, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL software, implementing effective monitoring and alerting systems.

  7. High Availability Architecture: Build high-scalable clusters, implement failover and hot standby solutions based on Maximum Available Architecture.

  8. Enterprise Failover Management: Experience in architecting, configuring, and setting up Enterprise Failover Manager or similar technologies for High Availability solutions.

  9. Performance Tuning: Lead efforts related to system and SQL performance tuning, and assist in business process integration with various data sources.

  10. Collaboration: Work closely with development and infrastructure teams for database design, changes, and enhancements to both new and existing applications.

  11. Disaster Recovery Solutions: Proven ability to provide High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.

  12. Documentation: Maintain operational documentation, including procedures, task lists, and architecture blueprints.

  13. Troubleshooting: Possess strong troubleshooting skills to address issues promptly and efficiently.

  14. Adaptability: Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working under high demands and short deadlines, occasionally requiring after-hours work.

  15. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
