Disney Entertainment Television
Location

Job description
Job Summary:
About the Role & Team
Disney Entertainment (DE) Television creates award-winning content across the portfolio of television brands and businesses, including ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Branded Television, FX and FX Studios, Freeform, Nat Geo and Hulu Originals! A home to dynamic storytellers and talented creators, Disney Entertainment Television develops, produces and programs exceptional content of unparalleled scale and reach with more than 250 programs a year representing over 4,500 hours of programming across our linear networks, and streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu.
Our DE Cultural Insights team sits within Marketplace and Portfolio Insights, which is part of DE Television’s broader Research, Insights and Analytics organization.
What You Will Do
The Cultural Insights Intern will support the DE Cultural Insights team. Our team is trends-obsessed and operates like a research consultancy inside Disney’s TV business. We educate and advise content and marketing teams about what’s happening in culture and ways it can be reflected in future content they create. In addition, we work with the broader DE Research, Insights and Analytics organization to acquire and synthesize knowledge about consumer behavior that may impact platform distribution and content licensing. In short, Cultural Insights helps culture shape DE as DE shapes culture! Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the variety of research the Cultural Insights team does for DE’s content and marketing teams, from answering specific questions stemming from a series in development, to researching additional insights or examples for a trend deep-dive presentation
- Contribute to the Cultural Insights team’s biweekly newsletter: identify and compose compelling writeups on new or shifting cultural trends via primarily desk research (scanning sources where trends happen or are reported on – such as surveys, news stories, thought leaders, YouTube, TikTok, and other sources)
- Keep up with and organize the latest research on cultural trends and DEI, both from teams within the Walt Disney Company and from outside research companies
- Stay up to date on the latest trends in the media industry and media research (competitor news, product and pricing releases, business and consumer strategy shifts)
- Assist in project management of research requests to vendors and partners, as well as research new vendors to consider working with to achieve our goals
- Compile and design presentations to be creative, impactful and executive-friendly
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent persuasive writing skills
- A curious nature and interest in pop culture trends, DEI and consumer insights
- Passion for content, especially that produced by Disney Entertainment brands
- Relationship builder, one who excels in a collaborative environment
- Can self-start, work autonomously, and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong critical thinking and project management skills
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written and active listening skills
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and reporting on the results
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Suite
- A social media and YouTube trends native
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in presentation design (in PowerPoint, etc.)
- Prior experience in consumer insights, market research, trends research, DEI research and/or the media industry (coursework counts)
- Strong quantitative skills, including an interest in data analysis and basic data visualization (charting and graphing in Excel)
