The Role
The Sr. Manager of Production Planning is responsible for the entire lifecycle of translating business operational goals into actual production on the fabrication floor. This role monitors the flow of our products through the multiple production shops in the factory, manages the build mix and sequence and ensures daily operational performance by identifying issues and executing tactical plans to protect our production output. Responsibilities
- Planning, scheduling and coordinating production in our fabrication facility.
- Collaborating with project managers, production supervisors, and other stakeholders to gather project specifications, timelines, and priorities to develop an achievable production schedule.
- Scheduling implementation of product improvements through company roadmap to the ongoing production activities without disruptions.
- Evaluating raw materials and equipment readiness and maintenance needed to ensure everything is in place for production and avoid any disruptions.
- Collaborating with supply chain, quality, logistics, and inventory management teams to ensure timely availability of materials, components, and resources required for production.
- Lead scheduling meetings, including daily production meetings, weekly production planning meetings, and monthly production review meetings, to discuss progress, issues, and action plans.
- Scheduling shifts and workers to provide proper coverage.
- Monitoring costs to ensure the production process stays within budget and targets.
- Tracking, mitigating, and reporting on the production status and any production issues to upper management.
- Handling production disruptions and productivity problems and executing tactical plans to achieve production output.
- Forecasting production capacity needs and throughput 2-6 quarters in advance to ensure fabrication is ready to support business goals.
- Using market forecasts and competitive analysis to anticipate necessary production changes.
- Leading and managing a small team handling the planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management/Administration or other related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in production planning of a highly complex product
- ERP (NetSuite) & MES experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, logistics, and planning.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Have a strong process orientation coupled with the ability to operate in a less structured environment when necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees.
