Job Description:
Job Summary
The Consolidations Supervisor is responsible for preparing quarterly and annual financial statements. He/She interprets accounting data, prepares balance sheet and cash flow statements and develops financial reports to meet internal and external statutory requirements. He/She ensures cash transactions are properly recorded within the Treasury Management System and accurately reflected in the general ledger thereafter. He/She This position supervises others within the department.
Supports Daily Compliance Function:
- Approves various daily, weekly, and monthly back-office processes (e.g., reconciliations, forecasts, etc).
- Oversees the specialist in the preparation of back-office activities & assists with any questions or issues that arise (and enhances process documentation)
- Works with Treasury systems to streamline processes and correct any issues
- Supports the connectivity process when new banks are added to ensure proper reporting in Clearwater
Supports External Reporting of Derivatives and Investments:
- Prepares the Derivatives and Market Risk footnotes & footnote tie-outs for 10 K/Q
- Works with Treasury & External Reporting senior management to perform any necessary updates to Treasury footnotes based on updated guidance or new projects
- Prepares the Cash Flow Statement for Derivatives and Investments and works with External Reporting to ensure accurate reporting
- Supports the internal and external audits of Treasury risk areas
- Research various technical accounting guidance
Prepares monthly accounting entries:
- Supervisor prepares and validates journal entries various complex accounting areas (i.e., derivatives, intercompany loans, investments cash clearing)
- Works with Treasury systems to correct any system-related accounting errors
- Throughout the month, works with various regional treasury centers ensure accurate reporting of intercompany loans
Supervises and Develops Others:
- Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
- Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.
- Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
- Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
- Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
Preferences
- Demonstrates a broad business and accounting knowledge; describes methods in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files
- Understands basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses
- Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Finance or Accounting
- Experience supervising others
