The Position: The
Racial Equity & Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for managing racial, equity, and inclusion initiatives. They provide support to the Director of the Racial, Equity & Inclusion program in accomplishing the YWCA’s racial, equity & inclusion strategic work plan and initiatives for Kanawha, Boone, and Clay counties.
Qualifications: - High School Diploma with some college preferred.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity & inclusion, power and privilege dynamics, and social identity initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and levels within the organization.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and best practices.
Additional Requisites:
- Excellent written communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and use of social media (IE Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Sharp attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple projects in a busy work environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation
- Must pass a criminal background check
Responsibilities:
- Assist the director with the planning of events relevant to the Racial Equity & Inclusion program including the Race to End Racism, and staff all program community engagement events.
- Assists with various duties associated with special events, fundraisers, or training which may happen outside of normal business hours.
- Record and prepare minutes at REI committee meetings and produce additional items needed for the meetings.
- Prepare materials for presentations (IE create a sign-in sheet, gather resources, handouts, etc.).
- Support the development of resources to promote and educate a variety of audiences and participants about race and DEI dialogue while keeping existing materials updated in collaboration with the director.
- Provide support for and represent the organization in all outreach events and group activities to increase the sense of community and belonging and support the success of a diverse population, with a focus on community-based programming in Kanawha, Boone, and Clay counties.
- Continually research and be informed of diversity, equity, and inclusion trends and appropriately share relevant information.
- Travel to community and training sites when needed.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Program Specific Information:
The YWCA of Charleston is committed to providing growth opportunities, which may lead to an expansion of responsibilities and working hours for the REI Coordinator to move from a part-time to a full-time position based on performance.

Compensation: $15.00 to $20.00 Hourly.
