Job description
As a Diagnostic Imaging Technical Specialist, you will administer sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure patient safety. To help achieve our mission, you will demonstrate an initiative to stay abreast of current technology and show evidence of professional growth. Providing clinical services according to Imaging practice standards and acting as a resource to Imaging Students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions is of vital importance. Your ability to demonstrate radiation protection/safety for patients, staff and self, as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines, is required. Demonstrating leadership and independent judgment necessary to support an effective work environment is expected.
A day in the life of a Diagnostic Imaging Technical Specialist can look like:
- Obtains clinical history/informed consent from patients or patients' charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results.
- Coordinates new team member and student department orientation/training. Assists with patient and team member scheduling to enhance productivity of department.
- Maintains an orderly, safe and clean environment. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies for procedures.

- Operates imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturer's specifications.
- Troubleshoots equipment effectively and reports equipment to Biomedical Engineering/Vendor, as evidenced by service reports.
- Performs and documents routine quality control testing of equipment.
- Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of image processors to maintain consistent image quality, as evidenced by the physician and exam results.
Requirements:
- Work Schedule: PRN
- Location : Inova Health Healthplex
- Education : Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography
- Experience : Minimum of 1 year of Imaging experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment.
- Certification : ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain advanced certification in applicable modality within one year of training. Must possess American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Knowledge: Capability to perform on-call, shift, holiday, and weekends when required. Proficient in two or more modalities within one year of hire into position
