If so, we are seeking a talented Protection and Controls Engineer to join a global consultancy. This full-time position is available in multiple office location.
As a Protection and Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining protection schemes for high-voltage substation and transmission systems. Your technical expertise will be instrumental in safeguarding utility and generation clients' assets while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop protection schemes for high-voltage substation and transmission systems.
- Generate one-line and three-line diagrams to illustrate protection configurations.
- Perform relay coordination studies and settings calculations to optimize system reliability.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings and schematics.
- Prepare equipment specifications and procurement documents.
- Conduct analysis and simulations using specialized software to evaluate system performance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate protection and control systems into overall infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices related to protection and controls engineering.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in protection and controls engineering for high-voltage substation and transmission systems.
- Proficiency in relay coordination, settings calculations, and protection scheme design.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software tools such as ASPEN, ETap, SKM, etc.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including FERC and NERC requirements.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- AutoCAD Electrical experience is a plus.
- Experience with SCADA, RTU programming, and substation automation is advantageous.
- Must be authorized to work permanently in the United States.
