Temporary Marketing & Communications Manager

Cornell communicators share a mission to enhance and preserve the university's brand and reputation as a top research institution and a leader in higher education, and to support and promote critical programs that serve the university's teaching, research, and public engagement mission.

Communication services are carried out through a matrixed organizational system in which University Relations houses the departments of News (Cornell Chronicle), Media Relations (pitching and servicing media requests), Brand (cornell.edu, multimedia production, brand management and governance), Strategic Communications (communications plans, key messaging, social media management), and Cornellians (digital alumni publication). Communicators in colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate with, and consult, University Relations departments. University Relations serves as a partner and resource for all college/unit communicators.

About Student and Campus Life and Communications at Cornell

Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division comprises leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including health, wellness, community engagement, social justice, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

Student and Campus Life's Communication and Marketing team oversees the division's strategic communication and marketing plans to raise visibility and awareness of SCL activities, programs, and resources for diverse audiences including students (current and prospective), faculty, staff, families, alumni and local community members.

The Campus Life Enterprise Services Marketing and Communications team works directly with Enterprise Services including Cornell Dining, Cornell Catering, Housing & Residential Life, Conference and Event Services, and Cornell Retail Services to provide marketing, communication, and promotional support.

Under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Marketing and Promotions, the Temporary M arketing and Communication Manager is responsible for a wide range of marketing and design development for SCL's service areas (Conference & Event Services, Housing & Residential Life, Cornell Dining, Cornell Catering, and Cornell Retail Services) which could include market research, creative development, implementation of marketing solutions, as well as delivery of promotional communications. While meeting collaboratively with area clients to stay abreast of changes, programs and events, this role will also assist in executing marketing plans and schedules from implementation to follow-up for each campaign or promotion, while adhering to deadlines, quality standards, and budget allowances that help drive business outcomes. Additionally, this position will collaborate with the broader marketing team and other key stakeholders to create efficiencies where possible and ensure smooth operational flow as well as support necessary internal communication that ensures overall success of the team.

This position is a 30-hour a week temporary role estimated through December 15, 2024. Extensions beyond that, including promotive opportunities into a non-term role, depend on anticipated business needs and work performance. The pay range for this position is $31 - $33/hr; final offer is dependent on experience, education, etc.
