Summary
The Imaging Services Technologist Assistant works under general supervision to Patient Transport Manager, Administrative Supervisor and Operations Supervisor. The Transporter ensures that established safety procedures are followed throughout the transportation process. Monitors the proper functioning of all transportation equipment on a daily basis. Knowledge of patient safety, basic transportation equipment, infection control processes, clerical skills, excellent telephone etiquette, and good communication and organizational skills.
Experience and Education
- High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment is required.
- One year of medical clinical and/or hospital support service, radiology, patient care experience, successful completion of a medical terminology instruction, and/or an Imaging Science Services assistant certificate a plus.
Job Duties
- Provides hospital with timely, professional assistance in administration of patient care Imaging assistants must be familiar with computers and word-processing software (Microsoft outlook, word, basic excel) A talented multitasker, with the ability to work on several projects at once and be able to work well with others utilizing good communication skills and AIDET principals.
- A quick and efficient worker that answers phones and assists with keeping up with the fast pace of the Imaging Services department workflow.
- Should be a skilled communicator, with excellent people skills as an ambassador on behalf of the Imaging Services team and will be interacting with healthcare professionals, doctors, administration, and patients on a constant basis.
- Cares for patients by transporting them to procedures, answering questions, providing privacy, and preparing them for imaging procedures, as well as ensuring that patients are comfortable and at ease during the imaging exam.
- The ability to lift up to 40 pounds to assist with moving patients to/from stretcher, bed, or wheelchair and to transport patient back to patient’s room.
- Maintains/cleans/stocks exam rooms and work areas in neat and orderly fashion including monthly review for expired products.
- Participates in hospital volunteer event/ hospital education program/or hospital class to enrich patient satisfaction and professional growth and development annually Displays adaptability, creativeness, prioritization and assistance to co-workers
- Is a committed member to the imaging services team that can include additional tasks, duties, and projects.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

- Work requires ability to recognize artifacts/unusual or special problems unrelated to normal scanning routines.
- Work requires ability to respond to and interact with all stakeholders with the PACT standards.
- Work requires ability to devise creative alternatives and suggestions to workflow constraints.
- Work requires a change agent attitude that includes flexibility and adaptability to perform in a high-volume facility.
- Work requires ability to build high functioning teams that work in tandem within interdepartmental modalities.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.
Security
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimum require prior approval of Vice President for Human Resources Administration or his/her designee.
