Job description

Responsibilities: The Patient Transfer Center Dispatcher is responsible for collaborating with Transfer Center Specialists, Nurse Coordinators as well as Medical Telecommunicators in EMS Communication Center to coordinate transport for the movement of acute care patients for the RWJBarnabas Health System. The Dispatcher will assist in the coordination of medical transportation via rideshare, medical sedan, Mobility Assisted Vehicle (MAV), Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance, Specialty Care Transport Unit (SCTU), and Air Medical Unit. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as proficiency in using computer applications including a Computer Aided Dispatch console, multi-line telephone, and other web-based application software. This position requires superior customer service skills, the ability to think critically and make decisions in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Skills:

__3-5 years of customer service experience

__Demonstrated comfort with multi computer system proficiency

__Comprehension and experience with multi-line phone systems

The required certifications are:

__High School diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred

The following are preferred or obtain within 6 months of hire:

__American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)

__HAZMAT Awareness

__CBRNE/WMD Awareness

__ICS 100

__ICS 200

__NIMS 700

__ICS 800

__The ability to accurately type at least 40 wpm, preferred in order to be successful in this role
