Description: of Duties
This position is under the direct supervision of the Division Director. The Data Entry Specialist communicates and collaborates regularly with the supervisor, other lab directors and COVID laboratory team members. The Data Entry Specialist shall provide updates to the supervisor.
The Data Entry Specialist specific duties are as follows:
- Works in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database in performing duties such as data inputting of all demographic information, faxing out request for information letters, daily monitoring the fax error and attachment log to ensure accuracy of patient information on laboratory reports.
- Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the data from the laboratory submission paperwork submitted with laboratory specimens to ensure patient safety.
- Scan laboratory submission paperwork for the documentation storage in LIMS and works with scanning software to ensure that patient information is accurate.
- Provides customer service via telephone or email inquiries to public health internal and external partners to ensure the flow of information and from clinical laboratory personnel, public health staff, and private physicians concerning laboratory test reports.
- Performs general office duties such as creation of documents or spreadsheets, fax, copy, and reports. This material is usually of a technical nature because of the scientific terminology used
- Work closely with and communicate with other lab associates to complete daily activities efficiently.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The DOH reserves the right to reject or remove any unqualified contract staff if they cannot perform their duties at an acceptable level. The supplier is expected to replace the contract staff ASAP depending on the needs of DOH.
DRESS CODE
ID must always be worn and be visible for entering and exiting the building. The Data Entry Specialist shall dress professionally; typically, in a “business casual” style.
