JOB PURPOSE:
As a key member of our Admissions & Enrolment Management team, the Manager is dedicated to supporting the admissions requirements of our Middle and Senior School. This role is central to identifying, recruiting, and warmly welcoming prospective families to our vibrant school community. Key responsibilities encompass engaging with families throughout the admission journey, showcasing our school at recruitment events, leading tours and presentations, conducting candidate interviews and assessments, and nurturing relationships with prospective families. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage with prospective families, guiding them through the entire admission process while effectively and positively representing The York School at all touchpoints
Attend on- and off-campus recruitment events, highlighting to prospective families the value of the School and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme
Meet and collaborate regularly with other members of the Admissions team to support the mission of the department
Review candidate files, evaluate applicants and participate in making recommendations about admission decisions according to the selection criteria
Organize and participate in recruitment events, including formal presentations, individual and group tours, and coordinating assessments for prospective students
Collect and analyze data throughout the admission cycle in order to make data-informed decisions about prospective students
Collect and analyze data throughout the enrolment of students to gauge their performance and engagement in the school while they are attending in order to make data-informed decisions about the recruitment process and admission screening metrics
Maintain ongoing and develop new relationships with feeder schools and strategic partnerships with organizations and individuals to support recruitment efforts
Guide families through the application process using the school’s CRM system and ensure timely updating of files and database information
Act as a liaison for new incoming families during the onboarding process and facilitate surveys and interviews with the incoming and outgoing cohorts
Foster relationships with prospective, incoming, and current students to ensure a smooth transition and experience at The York School
Manage the Student Ambassador and Parent Ambassador programs
Foster relationships with Middle/Senior School faculty to ensure the experience for prospective students and families during tours, presentations, etc. are inspiring, engaging, and effective
Ensure accurate recording of all documentation, application information, and statistics
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Postsecondary education in a related field; a Bachelor of Education an asset
Three years of relevant work experience, preferably in independent school admissions/enrolment management
Familiarity and understanding of independent schools and the International Baccalaureate (IB) is considered an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a natural ability to connect with students and their parents
Ability to build relationships and trust quickly and authentically
The ability to frame discussions about The York School through story-telling and narrative to prospective families, strategic partners, and the community that is compelling and authentic.
Strong understanding of CRM software platforms, expertise with Blackbaud a significant asset
Self-starter who can proactively identify opportunities to recruit new mission-appropriate students and think strategically
Demonstrated ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills essential to proficiently handling various tasks
Ability to conduct in-depth and detailed data analysis to inform nuanced decision-making in a competitive admission environment
Collaborative team player who is flexible and self-motivated and has a “How can I help?” attitude
The ability to engage with students, parents, staff and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously with a focus on delivering top-tier customer service
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
