Job Summary:

The R&D Specialist role will partner with the Regional R&D Manager (RRM) and National Product Director on New Product Development and Quality Control projects. Product Development roles in cannabis require an understanding of the current cannabis market, a strong organizational skillset, and a personal relationship with the plant and products. This role needs to act as the boots on the ground at the facility for the Product Department, while also demonstrating their skills in project management for R&D efforts.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Working under the direction of the Product Department, be a stakeholder in New Product Development (NPD) for Arizona from concepting through execution
• Work with RRM to track the status of New Product Development (NPD) and R&D projects
• Tracking and coordinating the ordering, shipping, and delivery of raw ingredients and packaging for R&D Projects
• Prepping samples at the facility for Sensory Analysis Groups (focus groups) and special marketing events.
• Partner with the QA/QC team daily to ensure all product batches exceed existing production and function standards
• Participate in product tastings to develop your palate and cannabis assessment capabilities
• Attend facility meetings and Product Team meetings to stay up to date on projects and provide updates
• Updating the Asana Project Management tool in real-time for all tasks

Required Skills/Abilities:

• At least 21 years old per state law
• General knowledge of cannabis manufacturing intricacies (general components of a product, general process for manufacturing, etc) across a wide range of products
• Proficient in cannabis assessment - know quality, identify flavor profiles
• Thorough knowledge of different Cannabinoids and Terpenes
• Working understanding of algebra with the ability to convert between different types of units using formulas
• Working understanding of MS Excel
• Possesses a strong collaborative spirit and be comfortable working as part of a team
• Possesses strong organizational skills

Education and Experience:

• HS diploma or GED
• Ganjier or Cannabis Sommelier Certification
• 1+ years' experience within a R&D or similar role
• 1+ years' experience as a project manager
• 1-2 years in the cannabis industry in a production, product development, or education based role
