Our client, a leading CPG company located in the Chicago loop, is looking for a
Purchasing Specialistto join the Procurement Team and contribute to their pattern of growth. The
Purchasing Specialistwill be responsible for supporting sourcing and negotiating efforts and coordinate with suppliers.
Purchasing Specialist Responsibilities:
- Create purchase orders for materials, products and services based on internal department needs
- Ensure purchase orders are accurate and include all necessary information, such as quantity, unit price and delivery date
- Verify that purchase orders align with budget and quality standards
- Coordinate with suppliers to confirm purchase order details and resolve any discrepancies
- Monitor purchase order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery
- Maintain purchase order records and update the internal database or procurement software accordingly
- Negotiate contracts and prices with vendors to ensure best value
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials
- Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback to improve quality and efficiency
- Analyze market trends and keep up to date on industry developments
Purchasing Specialist Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or other related fields
- 2+ years of procurement experience; food, beverage or CPG industries are a plus
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, specifically in a supply chain management environment
- Experience with SAP ERP is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively as part of a team on multiple projects
