Job description

Join our dynamic team as a vital member of the Accounting and Finance department. As an Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in our operations, focusing on routine accounting and finance close responsibilities while actively supporting various projects and process improvement initiatives. We are seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, proactive, and dedicated to optimizing processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Primary Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze routine and recurring transactions to support accounting and finance activities.
Assist in accounting for complex, non-routine transactions.
Gather and verify information for various accounting and reporting purposes.
Perform reconciliation and analysis of various accounts.
Maintain and adhere to internal control structure.
Assist with responses to internal/external audit requests.
Participate in departmental projects to drive continuous improvement.
Identify and recommend best practices and process improvements.
Track and analyze individual and process performance metrics.
Apply basic accounting knowledge within job responsibilities.
Maintain awareness of cybersecurity risks and adhere to protocols.
Additional Duties Include:

Process COPAS related JE's.
Manage non-op JIB invoices and equity group changes.
Apply payments via check and ACH/Wire to appropriate accounts.
Handle stakeholder communications regarding non-elect owner balances.
Maintain SAP master data.
Perform other general duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Proficiency in computer literacy, including MS Office Suite applications and SAP.
Ability to adapt to new systems and applications.
Knowledge of COPAS accounting guidelines and MFI's preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Strong work ethic, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
Experience and Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
2+ years of relevant work experience (6+ years in lieu of education).
Oil and gas accounting experience preferred.
CPA or CPA candidate a plus.

This position primarily operates in a remote capacity with the flexibility to commute to our Denver office as needed.
