Job Description: The Faculty Affairs Specialist will provide administrative, operational, and logistical support for programming related to faculty professional development and success, under the direction of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and in collaboration with the Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs.
The Faculty Affairs Specialist will facilitate regular processes supporting faculty development and success, ensuring smooth implementation and evaluation of strategic programming. The position requires a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and initiative and a commitment to equity and inclusion. The incumbent will demonstrate project management, systems thinking, and process analysis skills to identify areas of improvement. Superior communication and problem-solving skills are needed, as is the ability to prioritize tasks.
Qualifications: - Bachelors degree required.
- Three (3+) plus years in an administrative or program support role required.
Job Specific Qualifications: - Experience working with faculty and/or experience with/knowledge of faculty career development milestones and expected areas of achievement.
- Service orientation and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong initiative and tact in handling daily inquiries and special projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, without losing attention to detail.
- Excellent research and fact-gathering ability.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally. Excellent written communication skills.
- Superior proofreading ability.
- Familiarity with basic media production, instructional and graphic design, and learning management systems/platforms desired.
- Knowledge of DEIA as it applies to higher education generally and faculty careers specifically. Skills and abilities to maximize effectiveness with diverse groups of faculty and staff.
Responsibilities: - Support the Assistant and Associate Provosts in identifying and coordinating with faculty participating in professional development opportunities. Identify key contacts and maintain effective working relationships with staff and administrative leaders to provide a high level of support. Create, compile, or organize reports and materials needed by others to ensure high-quality work and outcomes.
- Support the development and implementation of a portfolio of career-focused faculty development programs. Support research on emerging and innovative practices in support of faculty success, Support creation of materials and other deliverables for distribution through a variety of channels and platforms.
- Provide clear, timely, and consistent communication about faculty development opportunities through regular newsletters, website, meetings, etc. Facilitate the development of new channels, where beneficial.
- Contribute to needs assessment and program evaluation for faculty development efforts. Maintain accurate records of professional development activities and outcomes. Enter attendance and evaluation ratings, communicate workshop feedback, and track faculty participation and outcomes associated with programming.
