Job description

We are looking for a  Trainmaster  for our  Camden, New Jersey facility.

In your role as a Trainmaster, you will:

Be the Company’s designated Railroad Testing Officer pursuant to the conditions set forth in 49 CFR 217.9. The incumbent to this position will supervise all employees while planning daily train and switching operations consistent with Alstom’s Safety Policy. This person is also responsible to review, recommend and implement operations processes that maximize efficiency. As this position will also require accident investigations, the incumbent must be a safety oriented individual, ensuring safety is the number one priority. 

Responsible for the overall supervision of all on-board crew members. This includes job instruction, training, evaluation, accident investigation and when necessary, discipline.

Periodically ride regularly scheduled trains to determine employees’ compliance with rules and special instructions and to look for areas which may benefit from increased attention.

In conjunction with the Railroad Foreman of Engines (RFE), the Trainmaster is required to perform regular operational tests as required by 49 CFR 217.9. Further, the Trainmaster must coordinate any efficiency testing to be done on CSXT ROW with the appropriate CSXT personnel, who are required to be present during said testing.

Maintain the Company’s program of operational tests and inspections as well as records of tests performed, the results of those tests and any associated required correspondence.

The Trainmaster will be required to perform these duties as well as such other duties as may be prescribed by the Operations Superintendant from time to time.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

BS Transportation or eqivalent

Knowledge of the Business 5 years experience; experience working with CFR requirements. 

Problem Solving Expected to engage issues and direct reports to undergo root cause analysis on problems as they arise. Area & Nature of Impact ...

Interpersonal & Communication Skills Expected to lead and foster growth of direct reports. Must be able to motivate and positively influence their team.
