Job description
Campus Service Officer Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, the Campus Service Officer performs Sacramento campus patrols, administrative assignments, parking enforcement and related duties. Provides support to Public Safety Officers, and other work as required. Campus Service Officers do not carry firearms.
Essential Functions: - Advises, directs, and provides information to students, employees, and the public.
- Patrols designated areas by foot. Uses public safety equipped vehicle and police radio. Patrols campus buildings, grounds, parking lots and adjacent streets; sees that doors and windows are properly secured and locked; reports any unusual or unsafe conditions. May assume a fixed post.
- Responds to calls for service and assistance.
- Provides escort services on campus.
- Assists in providing security at large gatherings and campus activities.
- Administers 1st Aid and CPR.
- Enforces campus parking regulations and issues citations
- Is considered a Campus Security Authority per Clery Act guidelines for reporting purposes.
- Writes reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Six (6) months of work experience in a security/law enforcement environment preferably in an institutional or campus environment.
- California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Guard Registration.
Preferred Qualifications: - BSIS chemical agent permit, baton permit and 1st Aid and CPR certification.
- Communication & Reasoning: Excellent customer relations skills and the ability to communicate clearly; ability to think and act quickly and effectively in emergencies; ability to analyze situations accurately and make appropriate decisions.
- Computer Skills & Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other office related skills. Ability to provide clerical support to the Public Safety Department.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds. Bending, stretching, and reaching required. Some sitting and climbing, extensive walking and standing. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, rain, wind, hot and cold temperatures.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed 40 hours per week (4/10 schedule) and overtime as needed to ensure adequate coverage or when providing support to critical situations. Availability to work a flexible schedule including day, swing and grave shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range: $23.96-$25.00 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
