Job description
As the Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and technical guidance for complex transactions. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will be responsible for producing timely and reliable financial statements, maintaining compliance with accounting regulations, and providing insights on technical accounting matters.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Technical Accounting: Research and interpret complex accounting standards and regulations, providing guidance and recommendations for the proper treatment of various transactions, including business combinations, consolidations, equity investments, and derivatives.
- Policy Development: Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that align with the latest accounting standards and regulatory changes. Ensure consistent application across the organization.
- Transaction Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams during due diligence and deal execution processes, providing insights on accounting implications and potential financial impacts.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain a robust internal control framework to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting. Identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements as needed.
- External Audits: Serve as key liaison with external auditors during the audit process, addressing inquiries, providing support documentation, and ensuring a smooth audit process.
- Advisory Role: Advise senior management on accounting matters, potential financial risks, and the impact of accounting changes on the business strategy.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting processes, utilizing technology and automation where applicable.
Required :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 6+ years in a finance role supporting a fast-paced and high-growth company
Preferred :
- Master’s Degree
- CPA or CFA
- Experience supporting retail industry.
Knowledge and skills :
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and relevant accounting standards, with a proven ability to apply technical guidance to complex transactions.
- Experience with consolidations, equity method accounting, business combination, fair value measurements, and other intricate accounting topics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex accounting topics to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with financial reporting systems is a plus.
