Job Summary

Department Purpose

Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owned/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. SHDS also provides student support and conference housing services to the campus and general community. For more information about SHDS visit our website at .

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, in conjunction with second HR Specialist with a high degree of independence and autonomy on a day-to-day basis, provide consultation, leadership, analysis, advice, planning and management regarding organizational and Human Resources issues for Student Housing and Dining Services. Work directly as primary point of contact with supervisors and managers in Student Housing and Dining Services and Hyatt to coordinate recruitment, position maintenance and training for Student Housing and Dining Services and Hyatt career, limited term, per diem, TES (Temporary Employment Services) and student positions. Provide a full range of HR management, labor and employee services including research, interpretation and implementation of personnel policy and complex contract language to ensure consistency and compliance. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all areas. Provide analysis and make recommendations for continued improvements to HR practices and procedures that directly affect all Student Housing and Dining Services employees.

This position works with a high degree of independence to provide leadership and management in the areas of HR Management, Employee and Labor Relations and Training and Development; works with the Shared Service Organization, managers, supervisors, staff, and third-party Food Contractor's managers and supervisors, in support of a diverse multicultural operation. ~1,623 total staff (may range)- 581 career FTEs (PSS, CX, TX, SX, HX, K3, 99)- $258M Annual Budget.
