Job description
Tiny Steps Learning Center is looking to hire an Infant Assistant Teacher. Permanent Full-Time position.
Reports to:
- Director, Group Teacher, and Head Teacher.
Basic Function:
- Responsible for assisting the Teacher to facilitate daily scheduled curriculum activities for the children.
Experience:
- Prior early childhood care experience is required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required.
- Associates degree in education/related field or CDA preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in child care setting.
- Ability to relate positively to young children, parents and staff.
- Willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program.
- Able to lift 40 lbs and walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
- Must be technological literate. Assistant Teachers will be required to use, manage, understand, and assess technology.
Required Expectations:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs while supporting Head Teachers.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times.
- Be a positive role model for all caregiving staff and children.
- Be customer service orientated and professional.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Including but not limited to the following:
- Assist in planning and implementing activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of students.
- Assist in developing culturally appropriate programs and activities.
- Establish routines and procedures for daily learning/play experiences.
- Supervision of students in the classroom.
- Establish routines with head teacher and provide positive guidance for behavioral outcomes.
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
- Communicate to parents on an as needed basis about child’s behavior, positive and negative, with approval of Head Teacher.
- Collaborate regularly with Head Teacher to develop weekly plans and activities.
- Perform assigned tasks as designated by head teacher/director.
