Job description

 

The STEAM Program Coordinator, Reserved Programs is responsible for bringing science to life and lives to science by creating memorable museum experiences across traveling and permanent exhibits and workshop/laboratory settings. Major responsibilities include involvement in exhibit floor education, public programs, and reserved programs.

 

The key responsibilities of this role include the successful implementation and execution of Camp and Club Programs including overseeing all program logistics, assisting with program curricula, training, supporting fellow staff members, communication with parents and guests. In addition to serving as a program lead, this role is responsible for actively driving the mission of the science center in exhibitions, classrooms, Innovation Studio, Fab Lab, and Media Studio by nurturing a culture of belonging, curiosity, and inquiry-based learning. 

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Provide a leading administrative role to coordinate preparation of program dates, room reservations, and scheduling of field trips and special visitors for camp and club programs. 

· Maintain successful interdepartmental communication with Marketing, Reservations, and Operations teams in the design and execution phase of camp and club programs. 

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of all camp and club programs including but not limited to: ensuring all staff have arrived on time, assisting with drop-off and/or pick-up, intervening as necessary to address behavioral issues, assisting with special activities/projects, etc. 

· Ensure the safety and security of all participants, volunteers, and staff by verifying adherence to all policies and procedures. 

· Provide communication to parents/guardians to address program operations or individual questions and concerns. 

· Collaborate on curriculum and learning material development that aligns with state and national standards, incorporating design thinking, problem solving, and team building .  

· Create and maintain a cost-effective inventory of supplies and complete orders for educational needs in compliance with program budgets and science center purchasing policies. 

· Assist Reservations Team in the administration of scholarships for camp and club programs. 

· Work closely with the Program Manager, Museum Experience and Arts Integration and Inclusive Practices Specialist, and Operations Team to hire and train staff and volunteers on educational best practices, customer service, and science center operations both in the classroom and on the exhibit floor. 

· Participate in exhibit floor facilitations and Live Science Show performances on an as needed basis. 

· Evaluate programs and provide ongoing feedback to continuously improve the guest experience. 

· Lead teams to develop and implement new public and reserved programs. 

· Actively drive the mission of the science center by being responsible for nurturing a culture of belonging, positivity, and professionalism by encouraging problem-solving, preventing disruptive behaviors and miscommunication. 

· Support the Science Center’s mission and values statement and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, ensuring equitable experiences, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all team members. 

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

· Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM field, Science Communication, Museum Education, Human Services, or Education Certification preferred. 

·+ 2 years experience in an informal learning environment. 

· Must have prior experience working with children grades K-8. 

· Ability to thrive and adapt to working in a fast-paced environment. 

· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.

· Experience in point of sale or reservation software a plus. 

· Experience working with special needs/neurodivergent populations a plus.
