DESCRIPTION
The Dean of Students is responsible for providing effective leadership to all students in-regards-to appropriate behavior, attendance, and other related matters.
ABOUT RCS:
Resurrection Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian college-preparatory school located in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1998 by Rez.Church, Resurrection Christian School serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. RCS is the largest Christian school in Northern Colorado, serving nearly 900 families from 19 communities over a 25-mile radius. School enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year Pre-K through 12th is approximately 1,400 students. RCS is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); AdvancED.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES-Assist the RCS School Principal with:
Organizational Leadership
- Stimulate a school environment that is Christ-centered, safe, professional, academically challenging, and encouraging.
- Oversee and assist with extra-curricular activities, school events, and activities (e.g. student orientations, CCR, NHS).
- Supervise select school activities (including sporting events).
- Monitors the daily routine with students in areas such as attendance and tardiness, orderly behavior, and adherence to the student handbook.
- Assists and supports the teachers with student attendance, student conduct, and positive behavior support.
- Carry out school policy concerning student attendance policies and procedures.
- Maintains accurate records regarding student behavioral and disciplinary issues.
- Establish and enforce guidelines and expectations of appropriate student behavior during the school day and while in attendance at after-school activities.
- Provides documentation and recommendations to the school principal in or to carry out discipline procedures according to school policy.
- Oversee suspensions as directed by the principal and superintendent.
- Effectively communicate with students, parents, principal and teachers of the disciplinary cases and action taken.
- Initiate and conduct teacher, student and parent conferences on attendance, discipline and other related matters as necessary.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all policies, procedures and handbooks of RCS.
- Administer the policies of the Board of Education and rules and regulation of the school district under the direction of the principal and superintendent.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with the administrative team.
- Assists the principal in hiring of new teachers, planning and organizing the school budget, and the planning and delivery of training and education for staff.
- Supports the teachers to develop, plan, prepare and implement course content, learning activities and classroom material and create a school environment which maximizes instructional opportunities.
- Oversees the filling of substitute teacher opportunities.
- Collaborates with teachers, support staff, and administrators to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Assume the responsibilities of the principal in the principal’s absence.
Spiritual Leadership
- Assist the principal in all efforts to ensure that a biblical, Christ-centered perspective is integrated into all aspects of the school.
- Assist with the chapel program.
- Work with the principal to establish a spiritual tone for the year via a yearly theme and chapel topics.
- Coordinate with the principal to institute positive strategies to develop Christian character in the faculty, staff and students.
- Attend and periodically lead school division devotions.
- Attend all-staff staff devotions.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the Colorado Board of Education and ACSI Practices in Christian Schools.
- Knowledge of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect.
- Knowledge of current research in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other department related software packages.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000/yr depending on experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Counseling or related field required. Must have or be eligible to obtain an ACSI Administrative Certificate and the Colorado School Administrative License or Special Services Provider (SSP) License. A minimum of five years classroom teaching experience is required. Working knowledge of classroom management, best practices and strategies, as well as the understanding of diverse student learning styles and needs is required. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Sheets and Google Documents.
Must have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet benchmarks and goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and management skills are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Dean of Students position requires intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending kneeling stooping, crouching and lifting of up to 40lbs on occasion. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
