Position Summary
Provides direct patient care based on individual need according to hospital policies, procedures and protocols, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of the practice of the Certified Nursing Assistant, after initial orientation and completion of skills checklist. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the WVMC mission and philosophy.
Minimum Qualifications - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant License for the State of Oregon.
- BLS certification within three months and maintain as current.
- Non-violent Crisis prevention training within ninety days of hire.
- Experience as a nursing assistant preferred.
- Meets recertification and continuing education requirements according to level of certification and maintains certification without lapse.
Essential Job Functions - Provides direct personal care under the supervision of the nurse within the scope of practice of the Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Completes all documentation within departmental requirements and timelines.
- Participates in the responsible management of all departmental/hospital resources.
- Assists with the completion of therapeutic basic level patient groups, as assigned by the Registered Nurse and based on the program schedule.
- Participates as a contributory member of the interdisciplinary team, including contributing to the wellness and maintenance of the overall unit environment.
- Maintains the safety of the patient.
- Assumes responsibility for meeting annual in-service requirements and ongoing personal development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Must be able to utilize good judgment, demonstrate patience, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Creativity, problem analysis and decision making
- Ability to therapeutically work with possible physically and verbally aggressive patients.
