Job description
City Post Chophouse seeks an experienced Sous Chef for this busy steakhouse and event space in the heart of historic Georgetown, Texas. The successful candidate will have experience as a Sous Chef, a can-do attitude, and a friendly personality. Fine-dining Steakhouse experience is a plus.
Job Summary:
- Responsible for the day-to-day culinary operations in a professional kitchen.
- Assist Executive Chef with menu creation, food purchasing, and maintenance of quality standards.
- Knowledge and maintenance of costs and controls for food and labor.
- Supervision of storage, stocking, and sanitation practices and procedures.
- Clean and portion various poultry, meats, shellfish, and seasonal fish.
- Keep knives sharp and have all the necessary tools in your repertoire.
- Understand and uphold hierarchy when storing and fabricating meat, fish, and poultry.
- Maintain a well-kept, clean, and organized walk-in.
- Understand the importance of sanitation, cross-contamination, and all current health codes.
- Responsible for proper food rotation of all proteins being prepared.
- Skilled in receiving/checking in products (know the difference between high-quality products versus low-quality).
- Available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the executive chef/general manager.
