Compensation: CA $69,300, WA $67,410, Base $63,000
Start Date: January 2024 or April 2024
Antioch University is seeking a full-time Teaching Faculty for the Master of Arts in Psychology Program (MAP) in Los Angeles, which trains prospective Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Clinical Counselors for licensure under the California state Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). As a member of the MA in Clinical Psychology program's team and under supervision of the Chair, Teaching Faculty members have responsibility primarily for engagement in student learning through scheduled University course instruction and related student advisement. Other activities in support of student learning may also be part of the specified responsibilities as well as institutional citizenship. As Teaching Faculty, responsibilities may include but are not limited to teaching, advising, and assisting in curriculum development within the program.
Teaching Faculty provide essential leadership to students in MAP and Antioch University Los Angeles by providing excellent academic instruction and a supportive, inclusive classroom and university community environment. Teaching Faculty are expected to be leaders in their field with appropriate content expertise and knowledge of teaching methods combined with practical experience teaching adult graduate students.
Demonstrated competence in clinical training requirements leading to California Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counselor licensure and any of the following areas is highly desired: cultural competence and foundational theories in clinical practice, family systems, child development and psychotherapy, addiction and recovery, trauma studies, research methodology, psychological assessment, psychopathology, and/or clinical supervision and practicum. The candidate's continued clinical practice is encouraged as an important mentorship component.
Essential Job Functions: - Engagement in Student Learning: Primary responsibilities center on teaching 36 quarter units across 4 quarters per year. Also serves as mentor and advisor for students in professional development and clinical training.
- Engagement in Institutional Citizenship: Serves on campus, regional, and university wide committees as approved by the program Chair. In conversation with the program chair, works with admissions in reviewing applications and interviewing of candidates. Serves as mentor to adjunct colleagues. Facilitates in the collection of data for program evaluation and accreditation processes.
- Other duties as needed: Participates in curriculum development and revision and other departmental initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by Chair.
Required Qualifications: - Earned doctorate in marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- California licensure as LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or Psychologist or within one year of license
- 1+ years of experience in teaching in graduate school settings preferred
- Professional portfolio showing experience in area of expertise
- Experience in working with adult students and a diverse faculty and student body with strong multicultural competencies
- Experience in technology mediated education and information literacy recommended
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, meet goals in a timely manner and be a positive member of the Antioch University community
- A strong commitment and understanding of the university mission and student-centered learning, especially adult learners and non-traditional students.
