Overview:

Incumbents in the "Education Specialist II" position develop curricula, prepare relevant presentations and materials, and organize, deliver, and/or facilitate classes, labs, conferences, and/or workshops. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Educational Specialist is a full-time, benefited staff position.

Responsibilities:

• Develops online/ in-person modules for early childhood educators (birth-5).
  • Practice-Based Coaching
  • Pyramid Model training

  • EIPPFI
• Researches, develops, and tests research-based, pedagogically sound educational materials.
• Engages in research related to Pyramid Model implementation, including the State Leadership Team evaluation questions to inform implementation progress and fiscal requirements for funding.

• Continues to develop and guide the use of the recommended Pyramid effective data decision-making and program-wide implementation fidelity tools including the systematic use of:

  • Look-Think Act data driven decision making process with implementation sites, UPM, and the State Leadership Team;

  • Pyramid fidelity observation tools;

  • Pyramid Benchmarks of Quality

  • Practitioner and Leadership Coaching Logs

  • Behavior Incident Reporting System

  • Social-emotional screening

• Facilitates Pyramid Model training with implementation sites including direct training, monitoring/support program professional development/training plans using slide decks and/or Pyramid Modules.
• Evaluates and analyzes curriculum resources based upon Google Analytics, gap analyses, teacher feedback, and the online Matrix laboratory.
• Reviews and recommends Pyramid Model and other related educational materials.
• Researches and defines the requirements for Pyramid Model demonstration sites, establishes a process for monitoring maintenance of fidelity and other required components.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in early childhood education; OR bachelor’s degree in early childhood education plus two years of experience.
• Experience implementing Pyramid Model or other similar evidence-based practices in early care and education settings.
• Knowledge and experience in using Implementation Science to embed evidence-based practices and research into early care and education systems of services.

Preferred Qualification:

• Ph.D or Professional Doctorate in special education, early childhood education plus two years of relevant work in the field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to implement a project/program from start to finish.
• Knowledge of Implementation Science.
• Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments including directing the work of others
• Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.

Funding Statement

The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
