DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) will serve as a behavioral health clinician providing individual psychotherapy to patients with diverse mental and behavioral health needs. This position will function within an integrated system of health care providers, working with high-risk medical/behavioral patients providing direct patient care through phone, video, or in-person counseling. The ACSW will provide assessment, planning, and treatment to patients while maintaining open lines of communication between integrated health care providers. The ACSW will be supervised by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and work within the scope of designated board registration, and preceptors' education and training.
Schedule: Schedule: 10 hours per day, 4 days per week
This position does not offer remote or hybrid options.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES:
- Provide individual, family, or group psychotherapy to patients with varied mental, behavioral and substance use needs under the supervision of a licensed supervisor.
- Identify and address psychosocial/psychiatric/mental health barriers that interfere with coping with chronic illness and meeting treatment goals.
- Collaborate with SAC health care providers to facilitate consultation and recommendations, actively maintaining communication across the health care spectrum. This includes participating in Systematic Case Reviews to ensure the comprehensive addressing of mental, behavioral, social, and medical concerns.
- Facilitate referral to specialty services as needed (i.e., substance abuse treatment, psychiatric services, psychological testing, community resources, etc.)
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.
- Patient care responsibilities include mental/behavioral health symptom screening (e.g., mood, anxiety, substance use, trauma, psychosis, etc.), brief psychotherapy focusing on symptom reduction, improving coping with chronic illness, lifestyle change, motivation enhancement, and goal achievement as well as individual, family or group psychotherapy.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient care activities and health record chart notes.
- Complete all required clinical and billing documentation via EHR in a timely manner.
- Meet productivity standards as set forth by the department and program administration.
- Attend regularly scheduled team meetings, clinic provider meetings, general staff meetings, and department meetings as assigned, while also actively engaging in the supervision process with your preceptor. This clinical supervision includes participating in weekly individual and/or group supervision sessions, during which you'll present your clinical cases and receive teaching and direction to enhance your clinical skills and overall patient care
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Completion of a master's degree in social work from a regionally accepted accredited institution is required. Registration as an ACSW with the Board of Behavioral Sciences is required.
- Licensure/Certification: Must have an active and unrestricted associates' registration and number as an associate clinical social worker (ACSW) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. In addition, the ACSW must obtain licensure as an LCSW within, or by the end of, the three (3) year training period. If licensure is not obtained by the end of the three (3) year period, the ACSW position will come to an end. The MSW will be eligible to apply for any other position at SAC Health System for which they may qualify. If selected for the position of an LCSW, you will be required to undergo the credentialing process.
- Experience: Minimum (1) year experience in a clinical setting as a pre-licensed or student practicum provider. Two (2) year's behavioral health experience required. Community clinic experience preferred. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Possess knowledge of psychotherapy theory and techniques, enabling them to recognize when supervision or consultation is necessary and to utilize these resources effectively while being receptive to guidance. Additionally, they should demonstrate a strong command of computer systems within Health Care Information Systems, including Electronic Health Records, as well as proficiency in various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations when dealing with associates (i.e., director, nurse manager, fellow employee, other departments, and/or outside agencies). Maintains effective communication to medical provider, associates, referring physician, billing/financial staff, and all outside community agency staff. Communication includes patient information updates, problem resolution, billing information, opportunities for improvement and quality of care.

- Essential Mental Abilities: Able to speak and hear on the telephone and in person and visually identify patients and staff. Ability to distinguish colors; distinguish
various sounds; and see adequately to read computer screen and written documents necessary to the position. - Essential Sensory Requirements: Must maintain a professional appearance along with a friendly, cooperative, caring and calm behavior. Must be committed to serve under-served clients.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
