Job Summary:
Black Hills Community Loan Fund (BHCLF) is a Certified Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) specializing in lending and technical assistance programs. BHCLF provides credit and financial services to underserved communities and populations. BHCLF provides access to credit and technical assistance through financial education and coaching to underserved populations within a five-county region in South Dakota while delivering responsible, affordable lending to low-income individuals and low-wealth businesses to keep them competitive and within the economic mainstream. The BHCLF’s mission is to provide families with the tools and opportunities to strengthen and empower their financial well-being in the He Sapa region.
To support this purpose, the BHCLF Director of Finance will:
Be responsible for all accounting operations of BHCLF, including all accounting functions, generating required reports, developing required information for audit, cash and investment management, budgeting, planning, and database management. The Director of Finance position requires a highly motivated, well-organized professional with strong financial management, computer, and communication skills who is excited about working in an active and expanding nonprofit and thrives in a friendly, informal, yet fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education):
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required, MBA or CPA preferred plus three years of direct experience in a nonprofit organization.
Thorough understanding of nonprofit accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management information requirements with proven cash management skills, i.e., control, forecasting, and budgeting.
Must have strong knowledge of online QuickBooks and payroll for nonprofit work.
Strong written and verbal skills. Interpersonal skills must include a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with diverse constituents, internal staff, board members, investors, outside public accounting, legal, bank, and other professionals.
Proven cash management skills, i.e., control, forecasting, and budgeting.
Proven human resource management skills and experience.
Experience working with American Indian populations is required.
