Job description

Primary Function: Responsible for providing semi-technical and technical support work for laboratory professionals in the   Lab, plants and in the field for assigned Business Unit. 

Machines, Tools and Equipment used: Yarn test equipment, textile and nonwovens processing equipment,  ovens, molding /lamination processes, glassware, electronic balances and load cells, prepreg equipment, electrical test equipment-high voltage, computers,   FTIR testing, Thermal Analysis testing and SEM.

Materials Used: Glass, silica, carbon, Kevlar(R), and other industrial yarns and fabrics.  Acids, bases, dyes pigments,  wetting agents , reactive polymer forming resins, organic and inorganic chemicals.

Supervision:   Analytical Manager

Job Responsibilities:

 *1. Assist lab professionals to set up and conduct tests, analyses, and evaluations in the lab and in the                  field.
*2. Perform analytical and testing work independently, as assigned, in the lab and in the field.
*3.     Document testing and results; enter in appropriate databases.
*4. M ake and record observations and data; prepare reports as needed.
*5. Maintain facilities and maintain, operate, and calibrate lab equipment; will do repair work as                              necessary.
6.       Assist in making computations and preparing charts, drawings, and reports.
7.      P rovide a variety of mechanical skills in support of experimental programs
*8. Assist in special research and quality control tests and rechecks for color, durability, washability,  wearability,  flammability, etc.
*9.   Maintain a high Safety, Health and Housekeeping standard.
10. All other duties as assigned by management.

(x) Climbing Example of ability: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps, using feet and legs                                                   and/or hands and arms.

(x) Stooping Example of ability: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

(x) Kneeling Example of ability: Bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on the knee or knees

(x) Crouching Example of ability: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine

(x) Reaching Example of ability: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction

(x ) Pulling Example of ability: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug                                                  objects in a sustained motion

(x) Lifting Example of ability: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects                                                           horizontally from position to position. Never exceeding 51 pounds without assistance

(x) Visual Acuity Example of ability: Sufficient to detect color – Must be correctable to 20/40

(x) Hearing Example of ability: Adequate to communicate over the phone and engage in normal                                                               conversation
Preferred Qualifications
2 years additional vocational school training or Associate of Science degree, previous experience in a laboratory setting or with composites nonwovens and/or technical textiles.

Mandatory Qualifications
High School Diploma, mechanical skills and knowledge of Microsoft office programs.

  Medical: 20/40 Corrected Vision; Color Perception Test
