Job description
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the EHS& S Manager, provide EHS support for facility, including the following areas: Incident Investigations, Safety Trainings, Safety Committee, Hazardous Communication, Lockout Tagout, Machine Safety, Fire Protection, Ergonomics, Respirator Protection, Hearing Conservation, Forklift Operator Training, and Contractor Safety.
- Analyzing and generating various Safety Reports for trend analysis and tracking Safety performance.
- Coordinate environmental management activities (Tracking and report of facility’s hazardous and non-hazardous Waste inspections and disposal, environmental permits/reporting, data collection of various air, water, waste, and environmental record keeping).
- Familiarity working with Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Management Systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
- Familiarity and working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Management Systems.
- Tracking and reporting on multiple Environmental Health and Safety metrics.
- Provide support to maintain plant communication EHS boards and tools.
- Assist with the coordination and follow-up of various corrective action plans associated with Safety Audits and or Incidents.
- Development of various written Safety Procedures, JHA`s, Safety Alerts.
- Coordinate First Responder Activities and Training.
- Coordinate periodic industrial hygiene sampling/occupational exposure monitoring with outside consultant(s).
- Support administration and maintaining records of Workers’ Compensation claims for the facility and work with Corporate Workers’ Compensation Manager.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs, medical records and employees’ confidentiality.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents; prepare reports/recommendations for management to act on, with review of compliance and risk assessment.
- Lead and actively participate in site EHS related teams (Safety Committee, Ergonomics, Health & Wellness, Emergency Response, etc.)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of related experience in the area of safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and environmental protection in a manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements including CalOSHA, SCAQMD, water quality, hazardous waste, EPA, Fire Code requirements, as well as “hands-on” working knowledge of regulatory interpretation and experience working with operational permits.
- Competent knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory and company health and safety standards/codes.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in both verbal and written communications across all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to handle employee matters in a confidential manner.
- Must be willing to become a trainer for CPR/First Aid.
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.
- Ability to periodically work a staggered shift or weekends to support EHS activities, to accommodate trainings, meetings.
The salary range of $59,290-110,110 is just one component of Hussmann’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
