Human Resources Generalist
This position is based in Rochester, Minnesota and entails a hybrid work arrangement, with on-campus presence required 4 days per week. Starting salary: $46,800 .
The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to support the strategic, tactical, and operational needs of human resource programs within a
campus culture of innovation, collaboration, and equity during a period of extended, accelerated growth. This role is expected to be a resource for the Human Resources and Finance teams in an environment with a diverse student body pursuing health care careers in an internationally remarkable medical context.
The position is a full-time, 12-month, administrative position that reports to and works closely with the Director of Employee Engagement, Development, and Well-being. This role is an important source of HR information for staff, faculty, and student workers across the campus. This position also works in close collaboration with University of Minnesota system human resource colleagues, leveraging resources and ensuring campus awareness and compliance with system policies.
Duties and Responsibilities Talent Acquisition: 60% - Actively participate in the recruitment of positions in collaboration with other human resources team members and search committees.
- Performs talent acquisition-related administrative work, including proper support for human resources functions and hiring authorities from the requisition process through the on-boarding process
- Post positions online using the TeamDynamix (TDX) system, share job postings to external job sites, and monitor applications online using PeopleSoft
- Gather and organize information regarding applicants; conduct resume and phone screens prior to interviews.
- Establishes and maintains effective communications with search committees, applicants, and candidates throughout the recruitment and on-boarding processes.
- Conduct I-9 employment verification and maintain compliance with E-Verify and UMN system requirements for reporting and re-verifications.
- Assists in building DEI talent networks internally and externally to the University to find qualified active and passive candidates.
- Makes recommendations for policy and process improvements.
- Perform administrative duties including scheduling meetings, managing email correspondence, and coordinating on-boarding activities.
Data Administration: 25%
- Request employment changes, including new hire data entry and pay changes, using
the TeamDynamix (TDX) system - Monitor TDX dashboard and follow up on outstanding transactions and transactions in-progress
- Follow proper procedures to resolve data discrepancies
- Track employment-related activities and deadlines related to appointment letters, pay and finance transactions, career development, etc.
- Scan and organize employment and financial records in Perceptive Experience online data management system
- Monitor system reports to align with internal records related to leaves, I-9 compliance, etc.
- Support the development and implementation of new performance evaluation initiatives
- Monitor documentation related to performance evaluations, pay increases, etc.
- Manage shared mail inbox to ensure timely responses to candidates and employees for their information needs
- Document current and developing HR processes and guidelines
Campus Activities: 15%
- Support the development of campus activities related to employee recognition, wellness initiatives, career development opportunities, and diversity and inclusion.
- Organize campus activities by scheduling rooms, placing orders, submitting payment requests, adding events to the campus calendars, etc.
- Work with the Director of Employee Engagement, Development, and Well-being to develop clear internal communications related to promote campus activities.
Candidates must have the following minimum qualifications:
- BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and/or experience to equal at least 4 years
Successful candidates may also have:
- Graduate degree in relevant field (e.g. MA/MBA in Human Resources or Human
