Job Summary
The Global Payroll Manager, under minimal supervision, is responsible for directing the operations of MTI’s Human Resource Information Systems and Payroll Systems globally. Responsible for developing, implementing, and modifying system requirements, overseeing the maintenance of internal database files and tables, and developing custom reports to meet the requirements of company management and staff. Responsibility for understanding and monitoring payroll related legislation to ensure compliance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Payroll Department for a global, publicly traded, manufacturing company.
- Responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing on a bi-weekly & weekly payroll for approximately 2000+ salaried, hourly, union, and temporary employees in multiple countries .
- Audit input and accuracy of data prior to completion of payroll.
- Compile and maintain payroll data such as hours worked, attendance, vacation hours, taxes, insurance, sick time, holiday pay and personal time.
- Responsible for coordination and processing of payments to third parties (e.g. non-1099 payments -- garnishments and tax levies).
- Process 401k plan reports/wire transfer documentation
- Manage year-end process.
- Responsible for the accuracy of W-2 processing and reporting.
- Consolidate, analyze, and report all payroll related information for the general ledger and management.
- Ensure strong system of internal controls and procedures exists to comply with internal and external audits and SOX requirements.
- Reconcile all federal, state, and local quarterly tax returns.
- Maintains familiarity with federal, state, and local employment tax and payroll regulations as well as visa regulations.
- Manage, maintain, and program the Time & Attendance system, Kronos, or other.
- Responsible for managing and administering payroll related system(s) implementations and interfaces
- Responsible for table maintenance and managing changes in the, PeopleSoft, ADP or other HRM.
- Handle security access requests/changes for both PeopleSoft, ADP, and the Kronos Time & Attendance Systems.
- Establish payroll calendar for the company.
- Ensure accuracy in the tax tables by testing tax updates provided by PeopleSoft.
- Conduct testing after tax updates are made.
- Support Payroll Department personnel duties, and ensure strong team exists.
- Responsible for problem tracking, escalation, and resolution.
- Identify team and individual development opportunities.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Work directly with payroll staff to generate the U.S. bi-weekly payroll, performing such duties as loading excel timecard data into PeopleSoft payroll pay sheets, reconciling Kronos hours with PeopleSoft payroll hours for several sites, generating and printing paychecks and advice stubs, generating and distributing payroll interface files.
- Troubleshooting errors in performing payroll processing to ensure that payroll is done on time.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have 10 years relevant payroll experience.
- Experience with ADP, PeopleSoft, and Kronos Time and Attendance Systems is required.
- Must have extensive knowledge of the payroll process, compliance rules and regulations in a global environment; extensive knowledge of time and attendance tracking and related issues.
- Solid understanding of the impact of payroll and related taxes on financial reporting.
- Ability to interpret garnishment and levy correspondence and apply to payroll processing.
- Knowledge of payroll controls and audit techniques.
- Ability to produce, verify and administer standard and ad-hoc payroll reporting.
- Familiarity with change management and human resource issues.
- Full understanding of system interfaces.
- General PC skills & software including Excel and MS Word for Windows.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously.

Work Hours:
- Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.
Safety Training:
- A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system. Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee’s position.
- Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
