Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Education Coordinator is an experienced certified registered central service technician. Under the direction of the Manager of Central Sterilization and the Director of Perioperative Services this individual will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the departments quality assurance program training and education of new and existing staff. Also responsible for ensuring annual competency of existing Central Sterilization staff. Trains and assists Central Sterilization technicians within the guidelines set forth by various industry standards and regulations including but not limited to IAHCSMM CBSPD AORN The Joint Commission FDA CDC OSHA and AAMI. Completes various daily audits within Central Sterilization and Surgerys Central Core to ensure quality measures are being met. Acts as liaison between Surgical Services and Central Sterilization Department. Demonstrates superior communication and computer skills and possesses extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing standards of practice. Participates in the development implementation and monitoring of departmental education competencies policies and procedures. Recommends equipment changes upgrades and additions to meet manufacturers instructions for use (IFU) for all items processed. The individual ensures ongoing staff development and competencies of central sterile processing technicians and staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic Life Support - AHA (CT CPRBLS) and Certified Central Service Technician (CT CST) required.
Minimum 4 years experience central processing with knowledge of Surgery workflow procedures medical terminology and instrumentation.
Knowledge of infection control and health & safety policies and procedures.
Sterlie Processing Technician certification
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Excel Microsoft Word Power point and Outlook with capability of learning new software programs and/or hardware as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years training experience central processing preferred.
Certification in Sterile Processing Management preferred or expectation to achieve certification within 1 year of hire date.
Bachelor Degree in Business Manufacturing Health Care Administration Public Health or Health Science preferred.
Endoscopy reprocessing certification preferred.
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
Pay Range
$25.25 - $36.61 /hour
