Job description

Coordinate with the Membership Department to reconcile two bank accounts used in the collection of membership dues in excess of $22 million on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and bank statement reconciliations. Manage the credit card processing merchant services account fees and chargebacks. On a monthly basis, prepare, review and distribute monthly financial statements to over 40 State Bar Division and Department Directors. Reports directly to the Senior Accountant.

 

 

  1. Prepare weekly, monthly and yearly bank account reconciliations related to the collection of membership dues in excess of $21M and $4.7M in fees. Coordinate with the Membership Department and the IT Department to resolve issues.
  2. Prepare monthly reconciliations for the Sheeran Crowley Trust and SBOT Supreme Court Certificate accounts.
  3. Manage credit card processing merchant services accounts including review and preparation of journal entries.
  4. Perform research related to credit card processing and initiate refunds; provide customer service to SBOT members who have questions regarding credit card transactions.
  5. Create, review and distribute multiple monthly financial reports to over 40 Division and Department Directors.
  6. Communicate with Division and Department Directors regarding monthly financial statement inquiries Work closely with the Membership Department to ensure the correct classification of receipts.
  7. Other duties as assigned. Other duties can include but are not limited to preparing bank account reconciliations, financial statements, or serving as back-up for other accounting roles within the department.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration is required. Requires a minimum of 2 years of specific achievement in the areas of accounting, financial analysis or financial statement preparation with government experience preferred but can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business. This position requires reconciling complex accounts using a multi-step reconciliation process, in a timely manner. Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and ability to apply processes consistently, under a deadline, are required to be successful in this position. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent customer service and communications skills should be demonstrated. Requires the ability to work independently under deadline pressure. Strong Excel experience required.
