Job Duties The Inventory Arborist Technician will provide our government, commercial and not-for-profit clients with the services and solutions needed to efficiently and effectively manage trees and urban forests by inspecting trees and other vegetation and identifying common defects. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Identify and measure local tree species, understand their typical growth rates, and recognize indicators of common diseases and pest infestations.
- Prescribe appropriate tree work needed to mitigate risk.
- Collect tree and site data points in the field with handheld devices. Data points include tree species, size, and survey area data.
- Surveys occur along city streets, on individual residential properties, in woodlots, along rail lines, wetlands, and anywhere else a tree can grow.
Education and Qualifications: - At least one year of related specialized experience, such as: inspecting plants for the presence of pests, surveying area for plant pests or for the presence of alternate plant hosts, performing survey or eradication procedures in a local pest control program
- Successful completion of a two‐year degree from an accredited college or university that included at least 16 semester hours in course work such as biology, plant pathology, entomology, zoology, botany, forestry, chemistry or agriculture.
- Current Driver's License and Driving Record in good standing.
- Urban forestry experience preferred.
- MCA and/or ISA Certified Arborist certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of current business software.
- Ability to identify local tree species.
- Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
- Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps.
- Ability to work independently.
