PROGRAM & POSITION SUMMARY Catholic Charities St. Vincent’s ORR provides residential care and placement support to male unaccompanied minors ages 6 -17 in San Rafael, CA following the guidelines set forth by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. This program provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that serves the whole child through comprehensive medical and mental health care, nutrition, educational programming, counseling, legal assistance, case management, religious access, and age-appropriate acculturation and recreation.
With an emphasis on strengths- and evidence-based, client-centered, and trauma-informed care, delivered by an experienced bilingual staff, we will provide a secure and enriching environment for all youth. An individualized service plan will move each child toward a successful safe and timely release and permanent home placement while building a robust support framework that will follow the child upon entering their new community setting.

The Teacher is responsible for curriculum development which facilitates instruction appropriate for students with a variety of academic competencies, backgrounds, skills, and learning needs. To design and implement daily instruction of all core subject areas to include: ESL, PE and Vocational Courses, in order to ensure compliance with government and organizational policies. The Teacher promote a positive climate of learning and excellence where students have the opportunity to enhance their developmental growth. The instructor may also serve as a liaison between the student, other classroom teachers and staff.
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment of respect and rapport to ensure a positive learning experience for youth with diverse backgrounds.
- Provide education by organizing and preparing materials for daily instruction while ensuring the inventory of classroom materials, may include: textbooks, furniture, and other equipment needed to assist in the provision of instruction.

- Serve as a liaison between the student , and other departments , especially with respect to cultural and language di ff erences , and p r oviding cross-cultural information to all pa rt ies that f ost er positive r elationships.
- Develop Individualized Educational Plans to report and document student’s developmental progress (cognitive, emotional, social and physical).
- Handle student issues within p r ogram and o r ganizational policies ( e . g. student r equests f o r class changes , absenteeism , potential con f licts etc. ).

- Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of special educational events to include but not limited to spelling bee, science fair, acculturation activities (to include but not limited to Cesar Chavez Day, Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, Fourth of July, Holi (Festival of Colors), 16th of September), Educational Outings (to include but not limited to visits to museums, Zoological gardens and aquariums)
- Ensure the initial Academic Diagnostic Assessment is administered to youth within 72 hours upon arrival
- Administer the post Academic Diagnostic Assessment within 45 days from the date of the initial assessment
- Promptly repo rt 1) any civil or c r iminal convictions , charges , arrests , investigations or adjudications— that may a r ise since sta ff memb er’ s last background investigations , including but not limited to , and 2) having engaged in or attempted to engage in sexual abuse , sexual harassment or inapprop r iate sexual behavio r; having been civilly o r administratively adjudicated to have engaged in or attempted to engage in 1 . or 2 . Above.
