The School of Theatre Arts at Illinois Wesleyan University invites applications for a one year full time visitor appointment at the Assistant Professor level: nine month appointment at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Effective start date is August 15, 2024.

Requirements: We are seeking candidates with breadth of knowledge, familiarity with the speed of theatrical production, facility for collaboration and ability to pass on skills and knowledge to our students. Candidates must possess an MFA at the time of appointment. Experience in higher education and participation in recruiting for the School of Theatre Arts is desired. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate continued artistic and professional development in the field.

Teaching and Design Responsibilities : Candidates must have experience teaching design and related technical courses in lighting. The successful candidate will deliver courses in Fundamentals of Design and Lighting and Sound Technology. Basic knowledge of sound and video, and production responsibilities are also part of this position.. Expertise with Vectorworks, Lightwright, ETC EOS, and Qlab software is required. Further responsibilities include serving as the primary lighting designer and/or supervising student design assignments (two each semester). Occasional supervision of undergraduate students enrolled in Theatre Laboratory to execute lighting, video, and sound designs is also an expectation.
