Job description
The Payroll Manager position is a hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” position that will lead and manage all payroll activities to ensure transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with federal, state and local requirements, established SOX controls and company policies. This position will work closely with the Information Technology and Human Resources Groups utilizing Human Capital Management Systems, specifically, SAP/Success Factors and ADP modules.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage to ensure payroll runs adhere to pre-defined schedules, are reconciled timely and all errors/issues are identified and resolved timely. Error resolution will require working closely with the Information Technology and Human Resources Group on HR master data. This would include, but not be limited to, validating, and reviewing HR master data updates/changes from HCM (e.g. hours, payroll changes, pay calculations, deductions, merit increases, relocations, stock options, bonuses, and open enrollment changes).
• Lead in developing payroll policies and procedures and provide recommendation to IT and HR groups to streamline processes and correct recurring system and process errors
• Lead and manage year end payroll and payroll tax activities, including preparation of Forms W-2, fringe benefit reporting, year-end reconciliations, and reporting
• Ability to provide guidance and governance on Success Factors Employee Central modules, ADP Smart Compliance and reporting, ADP Workforce Time and Attendance Manager, including but not limited to, system upgrades/conversions and the ongoing evaluation of outsourcing/optimization opportunities and future implementations
• Review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to payroll best-practices
• Lead payroll unemployment and garnishment processes to ensure compliance and remittances are processed timely and accurately
• Manage working relationships with agencies regarding payroll taxes, including quarterly/annual taxes, state and local taxes, IRS requests/inquiries and other company audits
• Support corporate finance and treasury department on payroll funding/bank interfaces, reconciliations and general ledger mapping and journal entries
• A minimum seven years of payroll experience required with minimum three years of management experience
• Large global organization with detailed system hands on experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Deep knowledge and experience with SAP/Success Factors Employee Central Payroll module highly desired or equivalent required
• ADP Smart Compliance and ADP Workforce Manager experience highly desired
• Project management and implementation experience highly desired
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
• Strong organizational skills required
• Ability to take initiative, adapt, prioritize and problem solve with minimal supervision
• Energetic, strong work ethic, resilient, collaborative, ability to juggle multiple projects at once and personally committed to achieving success and strive to take ownership
• Ability to determine escalation requirements and ensure key issues are put in front of key stakeholders with recommendations for resolution
• Attention to detail and continuous process improvement mindset
• Bachelor’s degree is required
