Applications Systems Analyst - Academic Technologies

Applications Systems Analyst - Academic Technologies (Remote)

*No Visa Sponsorship is available for this position.

What is Cornell University and what is Information Technology @ Cornell?

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled professional with technical expertise in maintaining, configuring, integrating, and securing enterprise applications, specifically in the context of Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET).

Cornell's SET system will be an educational technology solution designed to assist academic institutions in the student evaluation of teaching management process. The centralized SET system will enable students to provide anonymous feedback on each of their courses and instructors. Student evaluations offer instructors important feedback regarding their teaching, allowing faculty to improve and enhance their teaching practice. A course evaluation system also provides colleges with the ability to perform data analysis, providing insight into the student learning experience across the colleges and institution and help inform internal decisions such as resource allocation.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for full application lifecycle management in the chosen SET environment. Direct experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Records and/or Academic Advising modules is desirable.

You will be responsible for managing and setting up enterprise software, including crucial tasks such as implementing data integrations, system configurations, access management, validating software updates, production support and troubleshooting, data security, reporting, S SO/MFA, domain names, SSL/TLS certificates, and data mapping/transformation.

Your role will involve performing thorough testing and validation of integrations, ensuring accurate data mapping, robust error handling, and effective handling of exception scenarios. Knowledge of SQL and database technologies is essential to effectively query, manipulate, and analyze data. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing, mapping, and transforming data to ensure compatibility and consistency across various systems. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of data management principles are crucial to success in this position.

In this role, you will excel in collaborative team environments, actively engaging in cross-functional teams and fostering productive partnerships with academic departments, administrators, end-users, external partners, and vendors. Your contributions will span various stages of the software development lifecycle, including business process analysis, systems analysis, systems design, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Furthermore, you will closely collaborate with the SET application vendor and PeopleSoft teams, actively participating in planning and deployment activities to achieve seamless integration and optimal system performance and availability.

In this role you will also provide occasional back-up support for the suite of services managed by the team. These include the Enterprise Learning Management System (Canvas), and related learning technologies systems.
