SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) in the production department for all product and processes, under the guidance of Quality Manager. Responsible for Continual Improvement activities related to the Company and departmental goals. This includes ensuring suppliers are following their respective requirements regarding product quality.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive the Corrective Action Process across all customer concern types, with timely implementations, updates, training and on-going analysis on the root cause(s) across the occurrence, detection and systemic actions.
- Interact directly with customers related to product quality issues, escapes and development of timely corrective actions, including the authority to stop shipment to prevent non-conforming product being delivered to customers.
- Support manufacturing in the production of conforming product, communication of internal and external issues and resolution, monitoring and communication of applicable measurables, and defining and communicating product requirements.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plan, Operator Instructions, and other Quality System documentation as needed or revised from APQP, CA or CI processes.
- Establish and maintain positive customer contacts related to customer concerns, rejections and continuous improvement actions promptly therefore ensuring customer’s satisfaction.
- Interact with suppliers related to product quality for supplied product including but not limited to corrective action, supplier visits and Continuous Improvement Plans with the supplier.
- Drive and continuously improve the Audit Process (Layered, Product and Process) that are driven using the process auditing methodology.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction and customer specifics requirements are met by reviewing customer scorecards, maintain customer portals and reviewing customer specific requirements with the APQP Quality Engineer.
- Support the management of gage control and calibration system for your respective area and processes.
- Lead and assist in Cost of Quality and Continuous Improvement Team activities related to product and processes.
- Support and assist in the development of training programs related to processes and product quality.
- Provide guidance and training in the quality functions to Company personnel related to QMS updates.
- Apply statistical data analysis for the use of process monitoring and techniques to recognize trends to make improvements to products and processes.
- Supervise and support any direct reports as assigned.
- Perform any other Quality related function, as requested, by the Quality Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five years Quality assurance or related experience in automotive industry.
- Injection Molding experience, highly desired.
- Proficient computer skills; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Proficient knowledge of SPC.
- Proficient knowledge in IATF-16949 internal auditing and systems.
- Proficient knowledge in injection molding and/or quality system related to improvements.
- Organized and result oriented.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with cross-functional members within Company and some customer interface.
- Ability to multi-task projects and prioritize tasks to complete on time with positive results.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gages and fixtures.
