School Graduation Counselor
Following the posting, the team will review applications and invite those they select to an interview.
The team will decide, based on the interviews, who is in the pool. ONLY those who are selected from the pool will be eligible for counselor vacancies.
POSITION:
School Graduation Counselor

REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
College Manager
Lead Counselor

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Provide services to at-risk students, parents, school staff and the community. School Graduation Counselors address the developmental needs of at-risk students through a comprehensive school counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.

MAJOR DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promote increased graduation rates and success post-high school, beginning with students in 9th grade QUALIFICATIONS: Contact with Others:

Internal: Teachers, administrators, school social workers, psychologists, nurses, career and college information center coordinators and others.

External: Parents, social agencies, community representatives, college representatives, health professionals and post-secondary institutions.

Certification: School Counselor Certification/Licensure from the State of Ohio required

Specification:
Knowledge and Ability (Special Skills)
Must know current counseling techniques, have effective oral and written communication skills, exhibit positive interpersonal relationship skills; demonstrate sound management, planning and organizational skills and serve as a consultant to the various constituents involved in the school counseling program.
