The School of Arts & Humanities is a unique academic division at UCSD. Under general supervision of the School's Data and Business Officer, this position is responsible for the strategic coordination of all grant proposal development activities for the School of Arts & Humanities (A&H). Incumbent is responsible for grant development of proposed extramural programs, researching grant opportunities, analyzing grantmaking trends, assisting in writing proposals, stewarding proposal process, and general writing and concept development. Incumbent is to prepare feasibility studies on funding from prospective governmental sources, corporations, and foundations for proposed extramural programs. Responsibilities include the compilation and processing of contract and grant proposals, business/services contracts, subcontracts, etc., in partnership with the Principal Investigator (PI) and their departmental Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), other A&H researchers and non-UCSD research partners. Gather and interpret information from a variety of federal, state and private agencies. Work with the departments, institutes and centers to ensure detailed documents are completed, such as complex proposal budgets, budget justifications, conflict of interest forms, facilities/space assignments, institutional research protocols, and other ancillary documents required. Obtain signatures and using electronic architecture, submit proposals in time to meet strict agency guidelines. Act as expert consultant to PIs and research staff on application procedures, substantive narratives, and funding agencies' guidelines. Serve as main liaison to staff and subcontractors who are involved in proposal preparation. Strategic planning for funding opportunities and risk mitigation for the organization. Interpret and distribute agency guidelines, advise departmental post-award accounting staff of compliance and agency issues, act as a department contact for Office of Contract and Grants and Office.

This position has recently been accreted by the Teamsters CX union, and will be a part of that union moving forward.
Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required.

Demonstrated experience in contract and grant proposal formats, preparation, submission and administration, as well as federal, state and private granting agency regulations.Ability to analyze and interpret which policies and procedures apply to a given situation.
In-depth knowledge of federal and non-federal agency requirements and regulations for sponsored research from proposal preparation through close out, including but not limited to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Uniform Guidance, Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP), etc. Knowledge of university policies and procedures relating to contracts and grants, and accounting.
Demonstrate work experience in planning, researching, prospect searching, analyzing, implementing, and evaluating programs and writing grant proposals, with the ability to develop reports and oral presentations.
