Position Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the modification and qualification of ion implanters. The ideal candidate must be capable of problem solving, adapting to a quickly changing environment, learning & creating new technology and the drive to be hands-on in solving problems. Experience in electrical systems and circuits/high voltage is strongly desired. This position requires work in a team environment and the ability to work safely within an industrial and radiation environment.
What You'll Do:
- Constructs, troubleshoots, tests, modification of electromechanical, optical, pneumatic devices and systems
- Capable of working in a dynamic environment, where processes and procedures may not exist and creating the documentation for those processes.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is professional and cooperative
- Assist other projects and departments as required
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of an Associate's Degree and relevant work experience in a similar role.
- Experience with high vacuum systems and pumps
- Experience with ion beam systems
- Experience with electrical testing equipment e.g. oscilloscope,
- Experience/desire to work in a research and development environment
- Hands-on experience with soldering, machining, circuit analysis, programming microcontrollers
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics.
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings in SolidWorks, Creo (Pro/E)
- Ability to follow written procedures and accurately record test data
- Ability to work safely within an industrial and radiation environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Willingness to learn and understand new technology, instrumentation, and technical processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and handle objects up to 40 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working in an environment that involves some exposure to hazards that require basic safety precautions.
- 40-50% travel per year for site visits, visiting vendors, and attending conferences
