Job Description:

The Director of Finance & Operations, Oregon is a critical member of the Oregon senior leadership team and will lead the financial planning and analysis of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates’ (SMWE) Oregon business: A to Z Wineworks, REX HILL, and Erath, encompassing $98M in revenue and annual production of 750K+ cases. This leader should be an analytical, solutions-oriented leader that will bring an end-to-end understanding of business operations, searching for efficiencies and improvements in supply chain, Direct-to-Consumer, marketing, and cost accounting.

The finance & operations leader plays a critical role in helping to implement business plans, including the development of actionable reporting & analysis that can be used to monitor progress against various initiatives. Additionally, this individual is responsible for all budgeting and forecasting of the Oregon business including the development of business cases to justify new investments.

FINANCIAL, LEADERSHIP & ANALYSIS
•  Day-to-day engagement with the Oregon leadership team, with responsibility for developing reporting, key performance indicators, and profitability analysis to augment financial performance.
•  Ensures consistent, accurate, and fact-based decision making with broad impact across the entire organization, primarily working with department leaders within the brands.
•  Accountable for the annual budget and strategic plan for commercial and functional department expenses plus ongoing financial forecasting for annual and long-range planning.
•  Provides insights into the performance of the Oregon business, with special focus on sales performance in terms of product distribution, velocities, pricing, and promotion, including analysis of the depletion-based income statements across the various sales geographies.
•  Evaluates financial performance versus budget and provides clear, credible analysis of key gaps to plans.
•  Serves as a thought leader on capital spending, grape supply, and product cost.
•  Participates in New Product Development process through the various stage gates, providing financial projections as needed to support decision making.

DATA MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE
•  Ensure data management and overall integrity of data in ERP, POS, and sales reporting systems unique to the Oregon business. Continue to look for efficiency savings with new technology.
•  Lead inventory and cost accounting practices and records management.
•  Understand and follow contract negotiation and execution as it pertains to company policy and compliance standards, including grape contracts working with in-house legal counsel.
Effective Cross-Functional Partnership
•  Coordinate with Direct to Consumer (DTC), vineyard, facilities, and production leadership to ensure appropriate tracking and valuation of physical assets.
•  Build and evolve effective cross-functional partnership with SMWE Finance, Commercial teams, Communications, Strategy and Analytics, Compliance and Legal to ensure successful coordination of Oregon brand business strategies.
•  Actively lead integration activities of the Oregon business with the overall SMWE structure in all areas.

STAFF & TEAM LEADERSHIP
•  Act as member of senior leadership team for Oregon brands, with consistent onsite presence at multiple Oregon brand work locations in Portland, Newberg, and Dundee.
•  Provide direct leadership for Oregon brands finance staff of 2.5 direct reports.
•  Guide team culture and performance, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within all finance and accounting operations functions and with internal and external partners.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
•  Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related discipline required.
•  7+ years of progressively responsible positions in finance roles required, including a minimum of 3 years of management experience.
•  Beverage industry experience is a plus but not required.
•  Hands-on knowledge of cost accounting as well as manufacturing operations.
•  Deeply skilled in the development of professional analysis, and creation and display of related content in PowerPoint.
•  Highly proficient in ERP and accounting systems, Microsoft 365, business planning software (Anaplan).
•  Able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time and use computer systems.
•  May require flexibility of schedule at critical times to accomplish key deliverables.

YOUR COMPENSATION
$120,000 - $155,000 per year, based on relevant experience.
