Job description
Lube Technicians perform basic preventative maintenance, inspect vehicles for potential problems, and troubleshoot issues to ensure vehicles are performing properly and the needs of customers are appropriately addressed. This role is expected to partner with our service department team and dealership management to deliver superior service and education to customers on problems and proposed solutions for their vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Take accurate notes on vehicle condition
- Prior dealership experience a plus
- Follow proper and explicit instructions
- Professional appearance and disposition
- Excellent customer service skills are expected
- Strong communication skills; listening
- Productivity through time management
- Prior technician experience
- Valid California driver’s license; insurable
- Drive manual and automatic transmissions
- Team-oriented with a positive, friendly disposition
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Inform Service Manager if vehicle is down awaiting parts, and pursue special ordering of parts, if appropriate
- Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Examine vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
- Inform Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised
- Complete and thorough Multi Point Inspection to be performed on each vehicle
- Document work performed on each vehicle on the Repair Order using the concern, cause and correction format; state repair diagnosis/description as clearly as possible on terminal, as this is what a customer will see and how billing will be determined
- Road test vehicles for diagnosis/repair verification, remain cognizant of the fact that customers' vehicles should not be used for personal errands and should be operated in a legal, safe manner – seat belts must always be worn
- Continually monitor status of each vehicle and inform the Service Manager; escalate "wait" jobs as much as possible; monitor promised times and advise if there will be a problem meeting a promised time as soon as it becomes apparent
- Take care to ensure that each customer vehicle is returned as clean or cleaner than when vehicle was delivered to the Service Department for repair or servicing
- Report to management any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or the integrity of the dealership, its customers, or its employees
- Properly use special tools and equipment provided by dealership or manufacturers; maintain an inventory of standard Technician tools not normally inventoried by dealership as "special tools"
- Understand and complete required training for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations;
- Comply with all federal, state and local laws, as well as company policy, regarding safeguarding customers’ vehicles, property, and information
- Maintain assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner
- Report to management any problems with equipment, tools or dangerous conditions that may cause injury or property damage
- Produce quality work that displays pride of workmanship
- Review technical bulletins and other publications as assigned by management
- Participate and utilize technical training as requested by management

Compensation: $16.00 - 20.00/hr.
