The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 3 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Quality, Access and Availability unit, in Carson City NV. This position tracks and monitors access and availability for Medicaid Fee-For-Service population, in compliance with all federal and state requirements. Applicants should be able to research, interpret and implement policies, identify and track trends to be able to develop data-driven solutions to improve issues and create detailed reports related to access to care and availability. Engage with providers, stakeholders and other agencies and/or divisions to foster collaboration and feedback or improving issues. This position also coordinates with internal staff to review out of state provider applications to determine if access and availability of in state providers is sufficient. This position is located in Carson City, with occasional travel required.

To Qualify

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
