Job Description and Duties

As a Project Manager you will have the opportunity to:

• Serve as a project manager for assessment, investigation, and cleanup projects
• Review technical reports and other documents including, but not limited to: Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; Preliminary Endangerment Assessments; site characterization workplans and reports; sampling and analysis plans; pilot and treatability studies; feasibility studies; remedy selection documents; design, implementation, and completion reports; operation and maintenance plans; five-year review reports; and long-term monitoring reports
• Coordinate with DTSC support groups such as geologists, engineers, toxicologists, lawyers, CEQA, public participation, and public information officers to ensure DTSC decisions are technically sound, legally defensible, and transparent to the public
• Apply high-level knowledge of recognized environmental conditions, subsurface investigations, nature and extent of contamination, and underground transport processes of contaminants
• Plan and manage a workload consisting of multiple projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines to ensure all assignments are completed on time and within budget.
• Prepare contracts and cost estimates and manage DTSC contractors on orphan sites or sites undergoing discovery investigations
  

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

• Work experience with assessment, investigation, and/or cleanup of contaminated sites (Phase I and Phase II Environmental Sites Assessments, Preliminary Endangerment Assessments, site characterization, human health and ecological risk assessment, remedy selection, remedy implementation, long-term monitorin g, etc.) and related technical and regulatory requirements (CERCLA and/or RCRA) and framework
• Verbal and written communication skills and experience in communicating with a wide range of audiences including but not limited to the public, and federal, state, and local agencies (Excludes teaching experience)
• Coursework in environmental science, chemistry, geology, or a field relating to assessment, investigation, or cleanup of contaminated sites

Working Conditions

A remote-centered telework flexible schedule may be available for this position. The position is headquartered in Sacramento CA. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct face-to-face meetings, participate in field work, update files in the file room, etc., on an as needed basis.
